Serve Robotics Acquires Diligent to Scale Autonomous Tech

Serve Robotics is expanding its autonomous footprint by acquiring Diligent, a developer specializing in hospital assistant robots, to leverage shared software architectures and accelerate commercial scaling. CEO Ali Kashani confirmed the strategic move, noting that Diligent’s “real-world” development philosophy mirrors Serve’s own DNA, creating a seamless mission alignment for future growth in the robotics sector.

Strategic Integration and Scalable Synergy

Diligent will maintain relative operational independence within the Serve ecosystem while tapping into Serve’s advanced software stack and proprietary development tools. This integration aims to accelerate scaling efforts through shared technological resources and collaborative engineering, allowing both teams to refine autonomous behaviors in complex human environments. By sharing tech, the companies expect to streamline the transition from laboratory prototypes to functional, real-life applications.

Core Focus Remains on Sidewalk Delivery

Kashani clarified that this acquisition does not represent a pivot or a shift in the company’s long-term roadmap. Serve Robotics continues to prioritize its sidewalk-delivery robots as its primary business driver and revenue engine. While the executive team remains open to strategic partnerships, Kashani emphasized that Serve is not currently seeking further startup acquisitions, focusing instead on optimizing its current market position and existing portfolio.

Massive Fleet Expansion and Market Dominance

The company’s operational growth hit a major milestone in 2025, with Serve expanding its active fleet from 100 to more than 2,000 autonomous units. This rapid scaling follows a high-profile partnership with DoorDash, launched in October, to facilitate automated deliveries throughout Los Angeles. Kashani asserts that the sidewalk delivery business fuels the company’s entire technological engine, creating one of the world’s largest autonomous fleets and providing the foundational data required to refine robotics for diverse industries.
